Art with interpretation by Heinlein

It’s that time for the re-reading of Stranger in a Strange Land. There is no particular schedule for this, just whenever I need to replenished.
Now that .net is up and running again, a Rodin tour with commentary by RAH.
La Belle Heaulmiere.
“Anyone can look at a pretty girl and see a pretty girl. An artist can look at a pretty girl and see the old woman she will become. A better artist can look at an old woman and see the pretty girl she used to be. But a great artist – a master – and that is what Auguste Rodin was – can look at an old woman, portray her exactly as she is… and force the viewer to see the pretty girl she used to be… see that this lovely young girl is still alive, not old and ugly at all, but simply prisoned inside her ruined body.”
“Caryatid Who Has Fallen Under the Weight of Her Stone”
“It means every man and every woman who ever lived who sweated out life in uncomplaining fortitude, whose courage wasn’t even noticed until they crumpled under their loads.”
Little Mermaid
“… she’s everybody who ever made a difficult choice. She doesn’t regret her choice, but she must pay for it; every choice must be paid for.”
Wallpaper of the [indeterminate period]

It is necessary to occasionally change the desktop image on the computer. Underwear, haircuts, music, cars – they all have shelf lives and need to be swapped out for something better reflecting current tastes.
My favorite place for new backgrounds is www.interfacelift.com. Most of the pictures seem to be uploaded by various photographers or artists. The colors are usually incredible.
Out with the old background (I call it “the end of the line”)
And in with the new (officially named “Pier to Nowhere” – supposedly in San Francisco)
